How to change a flat tire on the road?

Changing a spare tire can be straightforward if you follow these steps:

1. **Safety First**: Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface, turn on your hazard lights, and engage the parking brake. If possible, place wheel wedges against the tires to prevent rolling.

2. **Gather Tools**: You'll need a spare tire, jack, and lug wrench. Make sure you have all these tools before starting.

3. **Loosen Lug Nuts**: Using the lug wrench, slightly loosen the lug nuts on the flat tire by turning them counterclockwise, but do not remove them completely yet.

4. **Lift the Vehicle**: Position the jack under the vehicle's jacking point (consult your owner’s manual if unsure) and raise the vehicle until the flat tire is off the ground.

5. **Remove the Flat Tire**: Finish removing the loosened lug nuts and take off the flat tire. Place it aside and mount the spare tire onto the wheel hub.

6. **Secure the Spare**: Hand-tighten the lug nuts onto the spare tire, ensuring they are snug. Then, lower the vehicle back to the ground.

7. **Final Tightening**: Once the vehicle is back on the ground, use the lug wrench to fully tighten the lug nuts in a crisscross pattern for even pressure.

8. **Store Everything**: Place the flat tire and tools back in your vehicle. Make sure to get the flat tire repaired or replaced as soon as possible.
